Artist

There are layouts I make that I love because of the overall design. There are layouts I love because of the photos. There are layouts I love because of the paper or embellishments. This one, I love because I incorporated Harrison's painting on the layout.

Is it acid free? Doubt it. Is it archivally safe? Most likely not. I love it nonetheless.

A fun day for all of my boys, painting...choosing colors and being creative. And that is something that doesn't happen around here very much.

VICTORY!

My bigger boys play baseball. They love it. They eat it, they breathe it, they dream it. Baseball is not only the American past time, it's the ONLY past time.

The sketch for the new Thursday spot at Elle's Studio called for me to scrap these photos, even though I only took them yesterday. Crazy how that works.

AND, I totally changed the sketch. I used circles and less than pictured. Plus, I really stepped out of my box. I MISTED the circles. Don't get me wrong, I mist. However, I usually don't mist directly onto the page and I CERTAINLY don't mist something major. Usually, I'm only an item color changer with mist. (Such as a shipping tag or a wood veneer embellishment.)

This layout...a total departure. And, I'm happy with it.

a whole lot to love

LOVE this baby. Did I say baby? Well, anyway. He's a cutie. And this is quite possibly one of my most favorite photos of him lately. LOVE his shut eyes, love his smile. So cute.

What else do I love? These little flags from Elle's Studio. Incredibly adorable!

totally eggciting

Last night I was scrapping and I found myself in a bit of a rut or scrappers block, or whatever it's called. The kit I was working with wasn't speaking to me (I'd already completed 9 pages with it) yet I wanted to finish it up before the next one comes. So, I put the kit away and worked on something else for a bit.

I thought about the papers I had and I thought about what they said to me. I was quickly inspired, printed out some pictures and made this:

I'm glad i waited for the inspiration. I'm happy with how it turned out.

before and after

The other morning, Harrison - who is 3, woke up and announced he'd like to get a haircut. So, after the salon opened, I took him in for a cut. He was quite shaggy before and has a nice short cut now. It's quite cute. You know what, though? It makes him look a lot older, I think. That part, I could do without.

Disneyland with friends

Yes, we go to Disneyland a lot. We've had annual passes for the last 5 years, hence the plethora of Disney layouts. It's fun though, wouldn't you agree?

Another two pager documenting our most recent trip. I used the instagram app on my phone for these pictures -- LOVE. And, one of my most favorite photos I've ever taken is in this cluster. Love that too.

Anyway, my settings can't accommodate the pages side by side so you will just have to use your imagination!

Come back tomorrow with a sketch that I created for 3 scrappy boys!

My Sketch World MAY 15 sketch

I love it when a sketch turns into a layout I love. This month's My Sketch World sketch did just that. I absolutely love the layout that I created using the sketch. YAY!
I used Studio Calico's May kit (Lawn Party) for everything you see on this layout. The Doily patterned paper is one of my very favorites in a LONG LONG time! You will for sure be seeing more of that!

Morning at the park

I knew the moment I pulled out my instax camera I wanted to make a layout with whatever pictures I took. Harrison and I headed to the park and had some fun. I came home with some images that were totally scrap worthy. Luckily for me, I had a fresh new Studio Calico kit (lawn party) waiting for me!!

Some good fun

Woohoo for scrapping and woohoo for sketches. I, of course, love My Sketch World and the sketches over there but I also LOVE Sketch Support. They have AMAZING sketches, you can expect all kinds of layouts, orientations and inspiration. Here are a few layouts I've made using their sketches as inspiration!

{a two pager. remember, I can't post those side by side?}

So much fun, right? I thought so. I've used the sketches before and I will use them again, that is for sure.

NSD wrap up

First, I will choose a winner for the twine on WEDNESDAY. So if you wanted to still participate -- please do!!

Here are a few of my layouts from the weekend...

{This one was for a paint challenge. I used bubble wrap to paint with and I love the results. I have copious amounts of bubble wrap and I will, for sure, be doing this again!}

{I combined several challenges here. Fabrips, stamping AND wood veneer. SO fun}

Until tomorrow!

3 Scrappy Boys NSD blog hop!!

Well, it's here! That celebrated day all year! National Scrapbook Day! In honor of it, 3 Scrappy Boys is having their very first BLOG HOP!

As a new design team member...here's a little about me: My name is Jennie and I'm a stay at home mom to 3 boys {9, 8, and 3} in Southern California. I've been scrapping since 2001 and I'm also a part time photographer (www.jmcgarveyphotography.com). I LOVE 3 Scrappy Boys and it's the first kit club I stalked or ordered from.

Here's my NSD challenge to you: create a card from scraps and stamps. ONLY. Okay, maybe you can throw a little something else in there, too. The point is that I like to make cards, but I rarely do. I look at all of the gorgeous cards out there and I love them...but my sensibilities won't let me make them with all of the embellishments and pain staking techniques. I want to send beautiful cards but I don't want to spend copious amounts of time or money on them. So, thus the challenge was born. To make a lovely card with scraps and stamps. How did I do?

I used my May Trio Kit and whipped this up. I didn't cut any full sheets of paper and I only added the shipping tag (which, shipping tags are very inexpensive!)

The challenge: make a card like this with only scraps and stamps. Link it up in the comments (you must be a follower to participate) and I will choose one participant to win a sampler pack of twine (from the Twinery!) and shipping tags (a couple sizes and a few different colors)! Then, head back over to the 3 Scrappy Boys blog!

Happy NSD and win that May kit, courtesy of 3 Scrappy Boys!!

MAY Trio KIT!

So, after those little teases, I'm back to show you all of those layouts. As the weeks progress, I will have more for you. But, for now, enjoy these two made with the 3 Scrappy Boys May 2011 TRIO kit!! It's glorious and will make TONS of stuff!!!
